Visit to Mom

I went to Tucson Arizona on short notice, thankfully my job let me have the days off. My Mom is not doing too well, but she’s hanging in there. She, my aunt, and me went to a Japanese restaurant. I bought some food and drinks. We had a good time. My Mom can’t drink but we could so we did. I was so happy. And Mom was happy, too. I was only there a couple of days ‘cause I had to get back to work at the Sylvester Bar.

Mom, Aunt Mimi and Me
Set back a year
I’ve been studying a lot of Portuguese to prepare for the State Department’s Consular Fellows Program Hiring process. I took the reading test and felt good I passed. I tried but wasn’t able to schedule the speaking portions. I visited the testing website every day and their response was that there were no available appointments.
And when I finally got a hold of the State Department to tell them about this problem. The called me back almost a week later and I was told that the deadline to take the tests was that very day. I missed it! All the work, studying, and waiting was for naught. Fuck! My future, or my imagination of it is totally wrecked! I don’t know what to do or think. How does my life change? How much should I whip myself?
So I continue on. I’ll apply again. It’s kinda my fault but missing the deadline wasn’t out of the question even following their instructions.
Company Get Away

I went to a company party day at The Standard, my old work place. And I decided to not drink. I rode my bike from my apartment to The Standard passing through various islands. All my co-workers were at the pool. We swam in the pool together, the hot tub, the Arctic Plunge, then the Hamom, a big bathhouse and steam room. It’s like a sexy James Bond movie scene.
New wallet, lost wallet
For the festivities afterwards, we all agreed to meet up at Batch Bar and Grill in Brickell. They all drove there, but I had my bike so I told them I’d meet them there. I rode and too a city bus to get there.

I passed through South Beach before meeting them there. It took me awhile to get there, so I thought about cancelling because I was going to be so late that I didn’t want to hold them up. It turned out that I got there right before food was served. Man, I was just on time. After that we met up at “Better Days” a cool looking bar. It was decorated like it was the 80’s. I was elated. But let me back up. Before leaving Batch I noticed that my wallet was missing. I had just bought this wallet. It was getting stuck to my telephone so when I pulled my phone out of my pocket the wallet got pulled out, too. I hurried back to Batch on my bike and when I went in through the front door looking worried the hostess asked me if I was looking for my wallet? I said, “Yes.” The security guard had found it. I had met her already. When I had pulled up on my bike originally and tried to lock my bike up in front of Batch she told me that I couldn’t lock my bike there. She said I had to lock mine down the street. I didn’t immediately answer her so she said not so nicely, “Did you hear what I said?!” I calmly answered, “Where do I lock my bike up?” Our interaction had gone fine, but it wasn’t pleasant. I had a bad taste in my mouth and when I found out later that she found my wallet and returned it, I was moved but also kinda shocked that this person who gave off negative vibes was later shown to be an honest person. That’s a lesson to be learned.
New Youtube Channel
I’ve started a new creative endeavor. I’ve been posting drone videos to a new Youtube Channel I created. I make a point of exporting them with the least amount of editing, because with my normal projects I edit a lot…..maybe too much. Also, I just purchased a new drone, the Mavic Air 2. Superior to my older drone. I want to fly it everyday, but I’m still trying to manage my time.
Conclusion
You never know when you’ll be proven wrong. Keep an open mind always but still be skeptic.
